Take Control Of Your Time – Tip Three

By Abbey Kyhl Faith-Filled Writer. Founder of Women Who Shine + theblueprint™.

I’m just here to take care of the people God has assigned to me. Blessed with what I need. Working hard for what I want.

We discussed the importance of daily routines in tip one, and the ever important task of creating a work schedule in tip two. By creating a work schedule that is reasonable and works for you, and then sticking to it, you start to treat your business like a business and work more efficiently when you are devoting time to work. I now know I can’t and won’t work every minute of the day, so I have to be smart when I am working and get it done! My time in the “office” is limited, so I can’t be goofing around. By having this work schedule I have had to learn to work smarter and more efficiently so I can get things done in less time.

Today we are going to talk about one tiny tactic that has helped me focus on WHAT I should be working on each day during my work hours…

I have two different versions of a to-do list that I use depending on the kind of day I have ahead of me. Today I am going to share with you the POST IT NOTE rule. Basically, it’s this, you can not accomplish in a day any more than you can write on a post-it. It’s impossible. How many of you make a to-do list with like 100 things on it and you just don’t even know where to start, so you spend the whole day staring at the list, getting distracted and overwhelmed, playing around on facebook instead, and get nothing accomplished?

We have all been there!

But a POST-IT is manageable. It’s tiny!

You can get those things done in a day. So each day make a list of what you need to do that can fit on that post-it and get it done! And here is the magical part…I think we all need to feel accomplished…we all need gold stars in our life to keep trying and keep moving forward. So on those days when you can get all your POST-IT tasks done and still have time left over you feel A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! You feel like you rock at your job! And that gives you the energy to keep moving forward and maybe accomplish a little bit more…or you can feel like you have the time to go do something F-U-N that you have been wanting to do with the people you love!

I vote for the fun, we all need more fun in our life!

I hope these tips have proven helpful and given you a new motivation to see the time you invest in your business in a new light.
