Getting to photograph one of your best friends and their family always ends up being kind of a wild and wonderful time. The Millers are some of my favorite humans and I always love when we get together for family photo. I love the kids like they are my own. It feels much more like we are playing around than anything else.
One thing I always love about working with Jacki is that she always has a creative vision for me to bring to life. She is so great at sharing her inspiration and then we get to creatively collaborate and the results are always something I can’t wait to share with the world. This session was no different.
I have shot at this location too many times to count. So this time we tried to create something different than I have in the past. I loved all the emotion that we were able to capture and the way we used the light to create more feeling and connecting. Light is so powerful and it tells its own story when you let it. I loved that the kids were able to be themselves and that we caught so many moments of all of them just interacting with each other.
One thing too that Jacki does at every session that I think contributes hugely to the outcome we are able to achieve is that she completely stands back and lets me direct what we are doing. She doesn’t try to control the kids or take over if they are being a little silly or not paying attention, she lets me be the creative director. Her stepping back and letting me work my magic makes such a huge difference!
